The All-Rounder Nylon Rods

by 11:55
Sometimes it’s the small parts, the cogs and wheels; the nuts, bolts and rods, that are actually responsible for the smooth working of huge, irreplaceable machines. This is certainly true for nylon rods.

What so great about nylon rods?

Rods fashioned from nylon are known for their toughness, strength, abrasion and wear and fatigue resistance. They possess a low coefficient of friction, have resiliency and also heat resistance. They are easily slidable and have high mechanical strength and come with low power factor requirements

When a filler such as molybdenum disulphide is added these already noteworthy properties are enhanced. Another reason why nylon is preferred is that it is resistant to hydrocarbons, alkalies, keytones and esters.

Where are nylon rods used?

Nylon rods are manufactured at Canada Plastics by using the extrusion technique and hence have exceptional physical and mechanical properties. This is why nylon rods are used in metal working equipment including lathes grinders and millers to mention a few. It is also a crucial component of pulleys, gears, bushes, nuts, bolts, rollers, tool handles, soft blow hammers, shuttles, castor wheels, bearings, washers, spindles, grommets, door catchers, tuning shafts, engine mountings, small components of air conditioners and refrigeration units.

Nylon rods are also available in hollow or solid bars in round & rectangular shapes and can be used for machining, a pivot on some applications or as a replacement lever or as a pole.
